BeesPurpose: This finger game gives children an opportunity to count kinesthetically (through movement). As the bees wake up the children can match the number to each finger.
Materials/Advance Preparation: None
Directions: Recite the following:
Here is the beehive (point to one fist)
Where are all the bees? (shrug shoulders)
They're hiding inside and fast asleep. (point to fist)
Here they all come and they're all alive,
Bees 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. (put out one more finger from fist as you say each number)
Bzzzzzzzzzzzz (five fingers fly around like bees)
Notes: As with all recitation, it's helpful to make a chart of the words (perhaps with a picture of a bee) that 4- and 5-year-olds may want to try to read. All the B words also provide an opportunity to learn the B sound.
