Guess the Animal

Purpose:  Children get an opportunity to express themselves dramatically as they demonstrate their knowledge about animals. They are stimulated to think about how the animal walks, eats, makes sounds. This activity helps children to develop better comprehension as they utilize clues, just as we do when we read.

Materials/Advance Preparation:

Directions:

    1. A child (with washed hands) reaches into a bag of animal crackers and pulls one out.

    2. Hiding the cracker, the child gives clues about its identity.  The  child can try to make the animal's sounds, walk like the animal, tell what it eats, or where it lives.

    3. When another child guesses the animal, then the child who pulled it out of the bag gets to eat it, and another child takes a turn.
