Pirate TreasurePurpose: This activity will help to develop vocabulary skills as well as logical thinking and direction following -- all essential skills for becoming readers. Children will want to play this game over and over.
Materials/Advance Preparation:
Something familiar to hide
Directions:
Hide something in the room and make up clues for the children to
find it. Here's an example clue for a blue ball hidden in a classroom.
"What you seek is small and round.
You will not find it on the ground.
It's way up high and colored blue.
It's on a shelf, it's near the glue."
Notes: This game can be used to teach concepts like over, under, near, as well as properties like color, shape, size.
