Playdough (uncooked)

Purpose:  Playdough is one of the simple pleasures of early childhood.  Once made, you can use it to model letters or other shapes, develop dexterity, or just to have fun!

Materials/Advance Preparation:

Directions:

  1. Depending on the ages of the children, you may want to mix this in advance or have them work with you.  If you want the children to work with you, make a a pictogram chart for the recipe above and refer to it throughout.
  2. Mix all the dry ingredients in your bowl.
  3. Add the oil into the water then mix into the dry ingredients.
  4. Stir until the dough forms a ball (add more flour if the mixture is too sticky; add more water if the mixture is too dry).
  5. Knead on a lightly floured surface until the dough is pliable.
  6. Refrigerate in a resealable plastic bag when not in use.
  7. Use like any playdough for children's freeplay, for suggesting that they form particular shapes, which can include letters, etc.

Note: This playdough recipe has an interesting texture and smells good.
