Access to and quality of preschool may depend on where you live?
According to a new report from researchers at Rutgers University, although states are increasing their support for preschool, enrollment is also climbing, so that per pupil expenditures are decreasing overall. In addition, there are huge differences in quality programs between and within states, with 12 states still not offering preschool at all.
The study, "The State of Preschool: 2004 State Preschool Yearbook," was reported in Education Week (December 1, 2004) and is available online from the National Institute for Early Education Research.
